An interesting new game that isn't *quite* either a VN or an RPG, but somewhere in between. But you can be certain about one thing - it's cute as a button.

You play Miley Verisse, an orange-haired tornado with a tendency to crack jokes every few words, as she tries to gather enough victims^H^H recruits to form an official new school club. Problem is, she's only got about a month to do it, and by school rules people can only be part of one club at a time (and most of them already are, or aren't because they hate clubs). So she's going to have to be ridiculously outgoing and use all her charms to try and win over the available girls and guys. To do that, she has to level up her social skills and Topics Of Conversation.

So you go around seeing movies, reading magazines, and watching TV in order to find things to talk about and help you make friends.

Control-wise, think of this as a console RPG. You have cute animated sprites and they move around and interact with each other. No mouse controls - you'll need the arrow keys and space/enter. When walking around, you can talk to people by walking over them and pressing space. You can also 'run' by holding down space while you move.

Menus will talk about pressing 'OK' and 'Cancel' without actually telling you what those keys are. Space/Enter/C will work for OK. For 'Cancel' type options, press X. (This is a standard Japanese thing, Z/X/C are often used as commands.)

Saving the game you can only do in the evenings by talking to your roommate Harriet. She's your own personal save point and sidekick!

EDIT: Looks like they've finally added a demo! You can find it on the main website here.

It's also only $8, so if it sounds like fun it's not much to gamble. ** You can buy the game from this link **

And did I mention that all the characters are pretty adorable?

(Added information now that I've actually had a chance to check this game out.)

This just looks too adorable. I'm sold (the price helps a lot for an impulse purchase). Thanks for the review otherwise I wouldn't get the controls intuitively.

T.T Will you stop linking everything to BMT Micro? I just bought this thing through them, received an email saying I have to wait until they process it and I just found out Gamersgate has it. Gamersgate is the best choice for buying indie games, BMT Micro doesn't let me re-download the file whenever I want, leaving me stuck with buying it again later.

I like supporting Indie companies, but I hate buying limited time download links, especially when I have to wait some indeterminate amount of time before I can start the download, that I do need to look out for my own interests as well.

I think you fail to understand what 'affiliate games' means. Smile

I do not have an affiliate relationship with Gamersgate, so I can't post links there. Nothing actually prevents you from researching the games on your own if you have a preferred method of buying, though.

This isn't true; you should never have to buy the game again unless the seller is being unreasonable. By default BMT Micro links expire after use or after a certain amount of time passes. There is a simple button for the seller to press to renew the link and send previous customers a fresh download link. I do this all the time for people who've lost their hard drives and need fresh installs - all I have to do is log in, look up their order, and ping! Done.

It's also possible to configure it so that links don't automatically expire (although they'll still go dead if accessed from multiple locations in fast succession, because this suggests hacking). I haven't ever tried to set this up myself though.

Of course, if you do run into difficulties with a particular seller not letting you redownload your game, do tell us about it, because I would want to warn people too! Not letting you download it again isn't fair.

I think this has to do with a lot of factors where the system is trying to judge how reliable a transaction is. It can happen with any seller. Some are particularly bad about not processing orders on weekends - I *twice* tried to buy something from stardock's Impulse system only to have them delay processing my order until the item was no longer on sale. ARGH!

Ah. I never caught it was affiliate with Bmt Micro. I just ignorantly thought you were networking with the other indie companies in some arcane fashion I didn't understand. The only true part of that was me not under-standing.

Although now that I know that, I'll have to come through here for the Winterwolves titles. Celso's registration system works very nicely with Bmt Micro.

Soooo, I bought the game sometime yesterday and I must say it's really great! It's not one of the easier rpg-games, which is a huge plus in my opinion, it has a lovely story and adorable characters with depth.
After playing it the first time, you think "Hey, this was really good", and when playing it again (a part of getting used to playing games created with renpy) you get kind of annoyed, since you can't skip text.
Spoiler:
For those who are curious, there are six characters, whom you have to convince to join your club. That means, your friendship level with them must be 5 (which is the maximum). That quickly proves to be tricky, whereas my tip is to invest money and time into improving your conversation abilities (topics such as whodunnits, history, music, etc.).
Also, as a side note, I noticed that Capcom produced this game, which reminded me of one of my Yu-Gi-Oh! games for Gameboy Advanced. Important? No, not really, but the graphics/characters in the game are the same style. It looks great!
Really worth buying, especially since it's only 8$ ! ^^ (about 40 DKK, 4£, 6 Euros and so on...)
Love, Vodka ;)

I really enjoy the game but I'm super frustrated trying to figure out where this "new game plus" that all the sites are talking about is! Do I not get it because I got the bad ending?? (Cindy wasn't there on the last day and I was planning on hanging out with her one last time, hoping it'd get her to 5, but then that failed so I failed..)

The game brought me back to the menu after, but when I chose new game and went through all of the text again (that I couldn't skip), I saw that my stats were the default ones and not the carried over ones..So, yeah..google didn't help me at all so maybe someone here can. Thank you!

I just downloaded the demo. It seems pretty good in my opinion but it's not really my kind of thing.

Hm.

When I beat the game, it gave me an option to save my clear data, and once I did that, I just loaded it at the start menu and it booted me up at the beginning, but with all my stats up where I left them. Second time through, I managed to get every stat to 5 and recruit everybody (though I spent way too much time on stats; it was literally the last day when I finished recruiting).

Yeah, I think there's something wrong with me game..been talking with someone at Nyu Media about it, but they're just taking a long time getting back to me in time, since it's supposed to have a save option and didn't for me (tried a few times too, which is a pain with no skip option..).

Not really, no. There are a few points where characters get what you might call a moment if you squint your eyes and look at it sideways, but there's not really any romance in there.

While I admit that it sounds interesting, I really hate it that they "Americanized" the names. Honestly, I find it a little insulting and really pointless and off-putting.

Maybe I'll take a look at it, but that won't happen any time soon.
