Princess Roguelike

I can't believe I haven't mentioned this already.

There's a sort of roguelike Princess Maker-ish game made as part of a "make a game in a week" competition. It's actually quite good, especially considering the short development time. It has decent depth, too, particularly in its combat model.

(What's a roguelike? That depends on whom you ask. Generally, it's an RPG with emphasis on character development through points, and a certain amount of enforcing permanent choices and learning-by-doing. More often than not, its "graphics" are reduced to ASCII symbols, allowing for much greater depth in the game play for a creator who might not be as good at drawing as our hostess.)
