Suggested Route Order (NO SPOILERS)
Suggested Route Order (NO SPOILERS)
For people trying to get the 'optimal' progression of uncovering information about the game, my suggestion would be:
Oscar
Gaston
Nazagi
Callum
... even if you don't care for Gaston, his path is worth doing, it may surprise you.

I went
Nazagi
Gaston
Oscar
Callum
Oddly, this made it more interesting! While the first one gives you a lot of information it keeps you on your toes and makes you wonder. . . what could I do to be happy and keep Cassidy happy too? The second, I felt it left Maddy unfulfilled while keeping Cassidy happy. Oscar- it gave this really intense feeling of action and mayhem, and Callum
Callum just fills in ALL THE GAPS
Nazagi

I've been here so long even Hanako is sick of me
I still have to play Oscar's route, I'm doing that one last.
Not sure how it turned out like this but my order is:
Callum
Gaston
Nazagi
Oscar
I felt like Callum's route left a lot of gaps about Cassidy's personal life and experiences so if I'd played it last I would have felt less illuminated, maybe. Then again, it did reveal Dolores's role in the puzzle and made the alternate theories about her obsolete, so I can see why you would play it last. I imagine Oscar knows the least about what happens.
...But Dolores's end is still best.

I agree that Hanako's suggested route probably would have been best... I ended up playing a little 'out of order', so it occasionally felt frustrating when I (as a player) already know how it REALLY happened, while the characters don't.
I ended up playing in this order:
Callum (OMG so amazing!)
Gaston (sweet and hilarious!)
Oscar (sweet. d'aw)
Nazagi (maybe the most practical/realistic, but didn't give me the warm and fuzzies)

You know, I really dislike his sprite (still do, his CG version has a much better colour palette), but I chose him as my second anyway as I thought he might have more interesting info for me to get.
I'm going:
Callum
Gaston
Nazagi
Oscar
Because of them all, I was really not interested in Oscar. He'll have to pull something awesome to top Gaston.
My recommendation is a little different (note: this isn't my personal route order, but then I was thrashing in the dark)
Oscar (fairy-tale romance)
Callum (reveals the secrets of the setting)
Nazagi (fills in the gaps in Callum's explanation)
Gaston (I kind of think of this route as a side story, best done at the end because it's a cute and funny route)

I did Callum's first, with another ending in that direction as a reload, and was deliberately trying to play Madeleine as someone who was trying to figure things out, and who may or may not have been entirely serious about Callum at first.
I think that it worked out pretty well! It's odd to get so much information front-loaded like that, but at least I felt as if the game was playing along with my push to figure it out? My thoughts tended to be pretty well-aligned with Madeleine's at the decision points.
Gaston's was next, and was great in many ways. I haven't done the others yet, but I think they'll be rewarding whether or not I already know the major plot points. Nazagi's still a mystery, and I'm not sure what to expect from Oscar's route besides the possibility of fluff or cruel disillusionment.
