Background Mysteries (Spoilers!)

One of the great things about this game was how rich the world seemed, with all the history and subplots tied to different characters and the politics of the world. Since a lot of these don't directly effect Elodie, we're left with a lot of questions that never get fully answered, and I thought we could ask nicely and see if Hanako would spill the beans to us :D

My questions in particular are:

-Novan history 100 mentions the "Gathering the Light" policy an old king enacted. I assumed this mean hoarding all the Lumen crystals he could get a hold of. If so, is there a vault full of them hidden away somewhere?
-What was Togami's ultimate plan? Why did he want so many Lumen crystals? Did he just want to be the only Lumen around, or was he hoping to create an army of minions?
-How did Togami kill Elodie's mother? I know her dad claims her mother's heart failed when trying to use too much magic, but I'm wondering if he didn't lie to protect Elodie from a more grisly truth.
-What exactly is going on with Briony's family? I deciphered the secret message at the end of her letter and still didn't get it. Is it related to the mysterious deaths the Earl of Io's step-father was involved with?
-What causes the salt water to spray up during the Festival of the Good Lady? Was it Selene/Julianna trying to convince Elodie she needed to become a Lumen to defend the realm from magical threats? Lucille trying to undermine Elodie's authority in the eyes of the public? Or was it an actual sign from the gods?

I'd love to hear other people's theories about these too!

Hm, where to start with this...
First, the evidence, I guess:
  • * Internal Affairs 90 says that "After years of marriage and three children, the Duchess of Lillah divorced her second husband and refused to say why. Shortly afterwards, he was found dead in a nearby forest. The Duchess of Lillah and her son the Earl of Io have been estranged ever since. The Earl of Io now lives with his sister, the Duchess of Mead."
    * The Earl of Io was overly upset at the woman who tried to poison his sister, (the Duchess of Mead and Briony's mother, fyi.) Even if she feels remorse after you explain justice had already been served, he still insists for the woman to be hanged.
    * Briony says that her parents have been sending her away ever since her uncle (Earl of Io) moved in. In the later letter, she also states that her father has been alternating between divorce and fear of losing his home/duchy, meaning that their marriage hasn't been great since he moved in.

"(Her uncle and his stepfather? Her uncle and her mother?)"

From all this, Briony's secret message implies that her uncle, the Earl of Io, was both romantically(?) involved with his step-father and his sister/Briony's mother.

EDIT:
From my most recent playthrough, Arisse's other son, Thaddeus, apparently "saw something he shouldn't have." Also, in my epilogue, Thaddeus suspects Elodie of having an affair with Togami of Shanjia, but does absolutely nothing interfere. Lol...

Scandalous, right?

So that's what Thaddeus saw! Thanks, I'd been wondering about it but forgot to include that point in my post.

Almost have a civil war, but compromise and accept Arisse as an advisor, which will force you to marry him.
For the epilogue part, also fix the Shanjia thing "with the power of music" or whatever.

Hahaha I just got that ending. Oh Thaddeus is hilarious.
