How do you get the merchant ending?

The version I got was easy, yet time consuming...

Spoilers:

I worked and worked and saved up a ton of money and then worked for Liling (the shopkeeper) going through all the dialogs. Eventually it gives you an offer to buy her out for 5000 gold pieces and you've now got the ending.
