To be honest, it is a good thing that Hanako is also making the first year from a different perspective, however as most other have already written, it would be even better if a continuation of Magical Diary was made, where your choices from the 1st year had effect, whether it was the romance choice...

As far as i know, the only thing that mentions anything about career is the yearbook, and you should take those careers as half a joke, usually yearbooks are done for fun as such most of the stuff written in those arent exactly always serious predictions to the future... After my 20th playthrough i started compiling a list to get to specific endings, however i dont have your technical knowhow so i had to go through trial and errors, which could result in backtracking SEVERAL weeks just to pass ONE skill test >.< Including the events on how you use your "intrigue", ...

And about the civil war, "keep it civil", or CRUSH them!
About the bandits, there are actually a couple of ways of handling it (you do not have to use combat skills to handle that situation)

If you are concerned with a civil war... then CRUSH the opposition :P You really shouldnt view it as beating the game, rather trying to understand the setting that you have been thrown into, it gives for a couple of unique stories, that all in all are quite interesting.
