How do you get a character's relationship bar to go up?

I was asking about the upgrade.

Typically, I don't use savegames unless the game I'm playing is really long. Even then I only use one slot and I always use that same slot over and over to avoid using a lot of space.

A few years ago, I bought the original Cute Knight. Between then and now, we junked our old desktop computer and switched to laptops. Can I still use my receipt to get Cute Knight Deluxe even if I don't have the old game anymore? Also, how much space do the games have? Not just the Cute Knight games...
