Re: New Case Suggestions

An actual thing that happened when my parents were in college: an enterprising student started an anonymous service where, for a price, you could pay to have a professor pied by a streaker. (I get the impression that streakers were the 70s equivalent of planking . . .) Administration took a lot of t...

Re: Thoughts

The art is pretty, but I wasn't thrilled about the pacing (the two times I played it through). Lots of huge chunks of text with no player input, plus several places where the choices didn't actually lead to where they looked like they would (e.g. "Let's go do this!" --> "Thanks for your input, I wil...

"You quietly search Peggy's room. You find Peggy's diary, where she talks about how she's plotting to destroy her classmates by giving them just enough rope to hang themselves... You may now detain Peggy's room . (I'll admit, this one made me giggle a bit :-P "Bad room! Bad room! Go to your . . . uh...

Re: Solving Mysteries - General Hints / Tips / Strategy

Suspicious Similarity - I found "empty coffee cups and crazy scribbling" in the classroom. It sounds to me like the teacher messed up, but I don't see what I could do about it - the only option for the classroom is still "search." The conclusion was a scandal - overworked teacher gave the students t...

Re: Elsa

I do like it, although it does make me feel less "in character" than the more story-based ones do. I do wish some of the conversational choices were more clear - in particular, the difference between the "I'm romantically interested in you" and "I like you as a friend" and "You're just my minion" wh...

Random. Although sometimes she seems way more obvious than others!

Re: Black Closet - Alpha Testing / Discount Copies

Are there any particular hints on the calendar screens that are -so- important that you think they need to be absolutely prioritised and given out for certain at the beginning, instead of randomly? Or hints that should be delivered in character dialog instead? The one about "too close to call" disp...

Re: The Cast of Minions - Character Discussion

Ha! Finally got a kissy scene and got to see Elsa for the first time (until the school spontaneously combusted into a drug ring the next week and I got kicked out). It's all "forbidden romance" that way, I guess?

Re: Black Closet - Alpha Testing / Discount Copies

Another question - should I make the game default to the lower difficulty level and make people choose to move it up to the more hardcore setting for a challenge? Have people tried playing with both settings and seeing the difference? That would be my preference, honestly. I've been playing it on t...

I'm trying to track "is this a success/fail where a 1 or a 20 would have made a difference in the outcome?" but that depends on whether the opponent's die is a variable too!

Re: Black Closet - Alpha Testing / Discount Copies

Speaking as a writer ;) I think the best way to explain the scandal/rules thing would be a conversation with Mallory. Maybe when she comes to you being angsty about her role on the student council? It would give her a chance to ask something in the "Aren't we supposed to be enforcing the rulebook?" ...

Re: The Cast of Minions - Character Discussion

Randomly generated students should include black, dark-asian, and light-asian in the options. There's no relationship between the visuals and the names on random students, though, so they may not be as noticeable. Elsa is black herself, of course, although you can't see very much of her until the C...

Re: The Cast of Minions - Character Discussion

Comment from my 6-year-old daughter, who insisted in sitting in my lap and reading everything aloud as I play: "Is this a school where only girls with light skin are allowed?" (When you take Vonne as your Harvest queen it makes it more obvious she's at least got some Asian heritage, because you see ...

Re: Solving Mysteries - General Hints / Tips / Strategy

Question: does the traitor manipulate only her own die roll, or the suspect's as well? I'm trying to keep track of successes/fails/ties, but sometimes the traitor is obvious and sometimes I seem to have all my girls doing equally well (i.e. succeeding at most things but not everything).

Re: Black Closet - Alpha Testing / Discount Copies

Generalized honest feedback here: I'd really like to see more of a guideline for what the school rules are, exactly. I'll frequently get to a point where I know someone did X, but I have no idea how bad X is. Occasionally I figure it's nothing ("Oh, they're just learning about witchcraft - hooray fo...
